I found this post Manage large lists and libraries in SharePoint
It claims the SharePoint modern experience can handle more than 5000 items in a list.
My question is can the modern experience handle a lookup linking to a list with more than 5000 items? This is an issue I have real problems with, the classical experience which I have just bombs out when you link a lookup to a super large (+5000 rows) list.
